Testing Feed For TDCJ Polunsky Unit And Region 1 Units

I was requested to setup a feed for the TDCJ Polunsky Unit (which houses death row) in Livingston, TX. Polunsky is in Region 1 which includes the Huntsville area which has 9 prison units. So there is a ton of correctional officers in the area that would like to be able to listen to the radio when off duty.

I am closest to the Polunsky Unit so it comes in good since they switched to DMR. The Huntsville Units are kind of hit and miss due to the low power DMR systems and distance. As the weather has started to cool off they are coming in better, especially in the evenings. When the leaves fall off the trees reception of them should improve.

I would like folks to check out the Rdio-scanner feed I have setup and give me feed back and suggestions for improvement, before I release the link to the general public. It is running on sdrs on a 3/5 element AY04 yagi.

Thanks for hosting this feed. I like monitoring prison units, but I'm not near any TDCJ units anymore. Back in Houston, Lychner and the Hightower complex were always jumping off with something or other. I'm close to FCI Seagoville, but they're pretty boring.

Before it started heating backup this morning I was picking up Wynne, Ferguson, and Wainwright Units. See what it does this evening, tonight, and tomorrow morning.

Also working on figuring out what the DMR settings are for the Estelle Unit right now. Once I do that I will submit changes to database for Ferguson, Wainwright, and Estelle.

I was surprised when Polunsky went DMR and then found the other 3 going to DMR, when TDCJ is looking at upgrading to the TxWARN system in the future in Region 1.
