I have a few Tetra sets, all used in DMO, all mobiles and my portable have clear firmware in, no TEA of any kind.
However, In the CPS there is option to enable 'air encryption' and End to End encryption' which is enabled, and is for every contact.
I'm sure there is _some_ inherent encryption in Tetra - namely 'Air Interface encryption' - but i see no way to call another set or initiate an encrypted call or, in the CPS,
input a cipher key in the CPS after the 'air interface encryption' box is ticked and enabled.
Also I enabled 'sck' and 'dck' - this made no difference, i was unable to input a hex value in any of the fields.
Is there any way to 'get my feet wet' with even basic encryption on sets with 'clear' firmware ?
or would i need to flash firmware with a TEA cipher in to get experimenting ?
Not really wanting to re-flash my MTP850s fug with TEA firmware in case i lose features like DMO repeater.
