After noticing that Texas A&M's Type II system had been oddly quiet the last couple days, I began poking around and discovered that all of the Type II trunked system's frequencies were now carrying DMR traffic. Unfortunately, despite the fact that every frequency had DMR traffic on it, I have been unable to get the LCN finder on my 536 to "find" anything. I'm not sure exactly what kind of DMR system they are using, other than that it's a TRBO system.

UPDATE:
I just figured out that it is a Tier III system.

Here are the active frequencies I've found so far:

856.2625 (LCN 211)
857.2625 (LCN 251)
857.9625 (LCN 279)
858.9625 (LCN 319)
859.4375 (LCN 338)

The LCNs seem a bit weird, but that's what my 536 shows them as being.

Not weird at all.

856.2625-850.9875=5.275 5.275/.025=211

This formula works for all of the above frequencies/LCN's.

I am assuming this is for campus operations, maintenance etc...? Their PD is still on the TXWARN P25 system last I heard.

Bingo. All it does is directly replace the Type II system. As far as I can tell, all the users that were on the old system have switched over. I am monitoring it, and have submitted a few TGIDs to the DB. Today, I just found a few more (in addition to the 30+ that still need to be identified).

013...Catering
017...Event Services
020...Custodial
030...Brayton Fire School Operations
043...Brayton Fire School Operations
129...Student Recreation Center Ops
142...Parking Security Dispatch
150...Parking Security Events
152...Bus Operations Ch. 1
153...Bus Operations Ch. 2
158...Alarm Techs
162...Blue Bell Baseball Park Operations

Oh, and you can add 854.3875 to that frequency list. It's the control channel.

Good job Michael!

Thanks. I'm pretty sure figuring out the talkgroups on this system is going to be driving me nuts for a while. On the old system, there were about 30 or 40 TGs I never identified.

Apparently, the fire school needs a lot of channels. On the old system, they only had about five. Now, I've found at least ten.

0028...Field Broadcast (Announcement Channel)
0030...SCBA (Oxygen Tanks)
0036...Operations
0040...Operations
0041...Operations
0043...Operations
0048...Operations
0049...Operations
0050...Operations
0051...Operations

Some others I've identified:
0014...Sbisa Dining Hall
0087...Brazos Transit District
0114...Environmental Quality (HVAC)
0154...Bus Operations Ch. 3
0157...Alarm Techs Ch. 1
0158...Alarm Techs Ch. 2

I am beginning to suspect that Facilities Services is using the text-messaging feature on their radios. I have begun to notice that maintenance-related traffic on the system is a lot less than it used to be. Even more evidence of this is that I haven't actually heard any maintenance requests (i.e. "Base to XXX, there's a water leak in XXX room XXX").

I have yet to identify any of the Area Maintenance channels, along with most other Facilities Services-related channels. I did manage to identify TGID 98 as being for the power plant control room.

Another thing: I think most TGIDs in the 26-51 range are probably for the fire school. It seems that every new talkgroup I find in that range has something to do with the fire school. I suspect each of the "Operations" TGs might be assigned to a specific "prop" (something that they set on fire and tell the students to extinguish). I know of a few of these, such as a tank farm, oil refinery, freight train and an airplane. Some are large enough that the smoke can be seen all over town.
