While returning from McLennan County last night I was travelling through Travis County when my PSR-500 started picking up chatter on Parks & Wildlife Channel 5 (151.3550MHz CT 110.9, for Travis County). So I switched my Yaesu over and parked on it. As I did that and temporarily l/o Ch5 on the 500, it stops on Channel 8 with the same conversation (500 never got a CTCSS tone- though that doesn't mean there wasn't one). The same conversation was being simulcasted on both outputs. I was too far away for this to be an odd input/output pair (and no where else in the state, that I saw, was one used as the input for the other). I've never heard this (to tell you the truth I rarely hear much out of Austin P&W from Hays County- only on tall hilltops usually) and have never heard anyone mention this practice.

Can anyone confirm this in another area of the state (with any channel pair) or can anyone verify that this is typical practice in Travis County?

In looking at the database for TP&W / Travis Co. , how can you tell what is c1, ch2, ect? The channels are not marked in any way that I can tell.

Well, before the database rearrangement into Regions most had little descriptors and across the state Channels 1, 2, 5, 6 & 8 were all standardized. I have this lineup:

Channel 1: 159.270
Channel 2: 151.415
Channel 5: 151.355
Channel 6: 159.340
Channel 8: 151.345

Keep in mind that information was most likely dated. I know that Texas P&W does have digital capability's so this lineup could very well have changed through the years.

Wish we had a Game Warden member (*hint hint hint* if you're out there reading this), that could give us a head's up on a typical radio setup.

01 - 159.2700 (Law Enforcement) (repeats: 151.2650, 151.4150)
02 - 151.4150 (Law Enforcement)
03 - 154.9500 (Texas Law-1)
04 - 155.3700 (Texas Law-2)
05 - 151.3550 (Park Rangers)
06 - 151.3400 (Park Rangers)
07 - 151.3850 (Texas Air-2)
08 - 159.3450 (Law Enforcement/Park Rangers)

Not sure anymore where in the line up they are, But all State Radios have all 7 US NOAA weather Channels. used to be on the back side of the channel line up. TP&W also share TFS "Guard" channel. TP&W also have TDCJ Ch-5 (153.9050 100.0 somewhere in the line up) The radios are pretty much identical in programming from region to region and have access to DPS and TFS as well as Local LE Agencies. A Constable over in Hunt Co. has the currant line up, I'll try and peak at his radio sometime and see if I can help this further.
