Just replaced an old BC scanner with a PRO-164. This is my first run with Trunking and I am wondering if I have to enter the talkgroup id's or can I just put in the channel freqs? I know I need to buy a cable but don't have it yet. I have all the info from the radiorefrence site but this scanner has me scratching the 'ol head. I have 99% signal strength on the control channel and my local PD is on the motorola 2 smartnet system. I don't seem to be getting nearly the traffic on the trunked system as I do with the old BC scanner. Any advice would be apprecieated.

Once you have the "CC" channels in, make sure you have the "Mode" for each frequency set to "MOT" by pressing the "Mode" button until "MO" shows up on the left side of the frequency. Then make sure the "BANK" you are using is set to MOT also. The default fleetmap for the MOT is Type II so you should not have to mess with that. Then make sure the BANK is "OPEN" which will allow for all available talkgroups to be seen. Once this is done you should see talkgroups just start popping up. Hope this helps!

Thanks HCPHOLDER. Got it working now. Went to RS and picked up the cable, uploaded to the scanner and I am in business. Never heard so much traffic. Thanks for the help...
