I just wanted to give Radioreference.com and all it's users a big thank you for providing me with all the information I needed to get my first Scanner up and running.
I know almost nothing about radio frequencies but in less than two hours on the forums I was able gain enough knowledge to join Radioreference.com for $15.00 for access to the database, download win97 for free and with the help of a $16.00 cable from RadioShack program my Pro 164 with thousands of frequencies for my upcoming drive from Delaware to California. The main reason for the trip (and purchasing the scanner) is to participate in one of the most brutal 4x4 off road races in the country called King of the Hammers. I'll be using the scanner to keep an ear on the competition.
I'm living proof that there is enough information here on the forums that you don't have to ask the typical newbie questions, all you have to do is a little searching and some research.
Thanks again, without radioreference.com I would have been lost. The radio shack user guide is almost worthless.
