I had asked a while back about using a discone antenna inside my apartment because the landlord wouldn't allow any outside mounting.
I got a LOT of advice and finally just went ahead and got one.
Putting it together was interesting, but once I got it set up, I mounted it on a desktop mic stand and set it near the window in my living room. It came with it's own coax, so I plugged it into my little handheld scanner and WOW what a difference! I was pulling in stuff from Lynn Massachusetts, I was pulling in stuff from York Maine, and all of the surrounding areas were coming in great, clear. Further signals use to be staticky, but now I can hear them rather well. I'm even listening to the HAM guys from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.
I'm grateful for all the helpful advice out there. Listening to my scanner is much more enjoyable.
