OK everyone,

I really would like to be able to monitor the Pima County Sheriffs here in Green Valley. According to the RR database, this is an LTR Multinet System, which can now be monitored successfully using LTRTrunk software, available on this website, and a scanner with a discriminator port added. See the forums for further discussion on this technology.

(1) I know how to add a discriminator port to my RS PRO-97.
(2) I've discovered the Zip file with LTRTrunk software.

However, I can't seem to find the discussions, and have no idea of how this all gets put together. I have seen threads mentioning the use of two scanners, but that's about all.

Can anyone explain how to set up for listening to this system.

Thanks!

Northe,

You're missing one important piece. You need a "slicer" between the scanner and the computer. Without it, no joy. There are a number of plans to make a data slicer on the internet. I, unfortunately, don't have the ability to build one, so I had one made for me.

I can tell you that it definitely does work, the software, et al. One of our SEARM group members demonstrated it at one of our SEARM monthly meetings. He used two portable scanners, the slicer he built, and the computer. It followed the conversations very well.

You might check the SEARM messages for conversation about this from Jim, or ask on the SEARM group.

It is fairly simple, once you have the right slicer built.

I used my slicer with just one scanner, as I don't own a scanner that can be controlled via the computer. I used it to ID active TG's and RID's. I used a different scanner manually, to follow the convesation. It was not the best, but it did let me listen - a little bit. :)

You'll be very surprised to see how much activity we are missing without a single scanner that is capable of the LTR Multinet :< Too bad no one is going to design a scanner for that one...

John,

Thanks!

I did see something about slicers mentioned -- I'll follow up and see whether it looks as if it's something I can build. And I will see what I can find on the SEARM group.

The main reason I asked here was because of that reference in the database section -- it sounded as if everything was solved 8').

By putting in the frequencies (I used the Mt. Lemmon ones) and scanning in ordinary FM mode, frequently pushing the scan button to pass over the frequencies sending the subaudible data, I get some tantalizing bits. Of course I had no idea of who was saying what to whom!
