you gave it a gallant try, but this receiver IMHO is just not a finished product. I still think it is shameful that AOR would market this receiver and let the consumer do all the alpha testing for them. I had wished this receiver would have potential because I'm looking for a one in all solution, but this is not the one.

The AOR-DV2 will probably introduce the fixes.

1: Nothing new to report. Will test more scan/search performance once Butel software is available.
I am not going to manually program more than one bank. Those days are long gone for me.
2: We all probably know the following. But the AR-DV1 experience makes it much clearer. There will never be a one-in-all-solution for radio monitoring.

Hello,

The receiver searching for the digital synchronization sequence maybe part of the reason that the scan is slow. It could wait around 0.2 seconds for each channel. Analog can be quicker because it is using the squelch state.

I notice other receivers/scanners seem to use the squelch state to determine if there is a signal, then only search for synchronization when a signal opens the squelch. This speeds up the scan time.

Thanks Eric, good information as always.

I have been advised that AOR should be coming out with a new firmware edition in about a week, so Jeff has kindly let me hold onto the DV1 until that occurs. This will be my last hope regarding this receiver, and I'm hoping that the result of 3+ weeks without a firmware update may result in some positives.

If there aren't any, or enough, I'll truly be done with testing. As it stands right now I still have no intention of keeping this receiver, but maybe that WOW feature is coming.

I'm not holding my breath...but we'll see. Until then, I don't have a lot more to contribute. :D

Eric,
Yes, the analog search is much faster than the digital search on my unit as well. Now that you have identified the issue with slow digital scanning, do you think AOR can come up with a way to fix this, or is this an inherent hardware design issue that will continue to keep the digital scan speed very slow?

Hello,

It is possible to change the strategy to use the noise squelch state to speed up the search. There is an old adage in software development that you make it work first, then improve and optimize.

I am having problems with scanning just stopping after awhile. It usually ends up on a NFM channel. If I turn the tuning knob, it starts up again, but seems to behave differently.
