Or I close it because it's the umpteenth time it's been brought up.
But if you leave it alive, it might save you the headache of closing yet another one in the near future. I'm not putting alot of faith in people actually doing a search before starting another one, but better to have one thread with all of the surmising, prognostications, etc that people can choose to participate/ignore rather than the starting of redundant topics that will just get closed.....just my opinion.

Whistler reached out to me almost a year ago and wanted detailed info about my countrys bandplan and different services at different frequency ranges. The same info where gathered from other countries. It was some action and feedback for a couple of weeks but then it died. I'm sure that Whistler Wendy was the driving force behind the country specific features to try and boost sales outside of US, where there are no simulcast systems.

If Whistler have lots of new ideas for the future life of their scanners, and are innovative and exciting to work for, then I wouldn't think that Wendy would have opted to work at a museum, where time almost stands still. Management probably put the lid on to any more founds for scanner development and Wendys ideas to increase sales where thrown in the bin.

Whistler is not going away, the fact that we were out of stock is due primarily to production capacity and shipping issues related to Covid19.

Sort of hard to keep stock of product when the Philippine government shuts factories down for several weeks, then decides to allows factories to open on a limited capacity basis only to then decide to shut down the shipping ports for a month. The ports have been opening up slowly and we believe the restrictions will be lifted tomorrow unless something else happens to extend the government notice. Until then, we are building product and awaiting the shipping ports to fully open.

Sorry for any issues this has caused with inventory levels.
None of the scanners are being discontinued despite what you read on some websites.

WS

Keep up the good work ,

ps , please add tetra to the trx1

Hahaha. Once in a while you get some bashing ubbe but your knowledge is indisputable.

Corporate success is demonstrated by results. The big issue here or dare I say, the elephant in the room, is the fact that these ancient radios don't work on the systems that are becoming predominant in the USA. The writing is on the wall.

I'm sure this thread will be closed soon, it's really no different than any other privately owned social media outlet.

This thread has been very productive and I'll say it again, if my TRX 1 received P2 simulcast tdma transmissions it would be my preferred go to Radio. Understand?

As old as it is it's a great radio other than the fact it's in my drawer.

In an attempt to keep the threat open, that's a pretty good endorsement. I've been around a long time on this site, long before my join up date on a different company account.

Whistler support... I understand how you make a living and I understand what you need to say. Perfectly understandable. Time to deliver. LOL.

As being new in your position I know you know exactly what I'm talking about. Good luck to you.:D

I tried out a TRX-1 last year. I replaced the SD card it came with with a SanDisc brand. I created two. Sure enough, when out and about upon powering the TRX-1 it couldn't find the SD card. I swapped in the spare I had created and was back in business. I re-created the corrupted card with EZ Scan later. Never had this happen again. But the fact it happened once was not good.

The WSD-1095 has the same problem. I've had to replace the memory card four times in the past four years.
I only get file system trashes. Nothing wrong with my card that a reformat can't fix. But the SD card that came with my TRX-2 was trashed from the start and couldn't be recovered whatever method I tried.

I occasionally look for a deal on the ws-1040. I have noticed that almost all site's are listing it as discontinued or no longer available. To boot, universal radio is not showing any whistler scanner's. This, combined with the departure of whistler wendy, make's me wonder. Is whistler out of the scanner market ?.
I can say that my friends and family that wanted a new scanner I think may have sold out the Whistlergroup site within minutes last Tuesday. They were so impressed with mine the next day when I looked at the Whistler group web page they were gone. :cautious:

Muhammad Ali not only talked about fighting he backed it up with actions. I do not want Whistler to end scanner sales I want them to step up their game and make a better scanner if they did I would buy it but it would have to be a improvement over the TRX scanners.

If they came with a prepaid return label that would be a step up from the sds's

TRX series are awesome for DMR.

And it doesn't immediately mute and skip ENC comms, so you can see Talkgroups. To some, that is a desirable function. I like having that choice, sure I can't tell what is being said, but I can see a system is there.

Uniden makes the choice for you, weather you like it or not.

Well please share because it has not been told here in the US how to TRICK PROGRAM A TRX SCANNER.
The only trick and I own 2 was Whistler gave up on trying to build a LSM SCANNER and never released the how to TRICK a TRX.

To get 100% clear solid decode on my local 700 and 800 P1 and P2 LSM trunked systems, I use a Larsen NMO36 low band antenna...seriously...

Of course! Right after I bought a WS-1040. However, I will keep using it for it's mobile capabilities. After reading some articles and forums on SDR, I have bought a stick and am enjoying working with it. As a result, I am looking at getting another one (for working with trunking sys) and pricing SDS200s for possible purchase in the future. It does sadden me to see them going down however. They've been with us for so long and as a few members said; the competition has been to our benefit over the years.

I believe you. The more attenuation you can get to only receive s single strong site the more success you will have receiving a simulcast system using a standard type of receiver. A low band antenna will probably attenuate enough in the 800MHz band to let you receive just that one site and not be interfered from the systems other sites on the same frequency.

I was wondering if you keep the scanner stationary or if you travel around the area with it.

Static base scanner...the local 700 LSM system is rather picky about antenna location...you can move a few inches and it can get garbled. The low band antenna is working well to get great 700 800 reception (-50dBm) while still allowing me to get my low band highway patrol stuff...I can litterally see the 700 800 transmitter tower on the mountain above me :)

I'm glad it's working for you. Location can certainly make a difference in reception.
