I always wondered what people were describing when they complained about "motoboating" on the PRO-96. I think I found out tonight. My PSR-500 was making motorboat noises, in time with the Trunking indicator, while I was monitoring an analog Type II system.

I have not applied any updates to the scanner's firmware yet. Which one(s) would address this problem?

I would install both of the latest CPU and DSP upgrades.
It made a HUGE difference on the CT State Police system.
It works fantastic now..... Thanks

Dave, you said a type II analog system? I thought "Motorboating" was a digital system issue.

It happens on mixed mode systems unless you have poor signal or interference on a P25 system.

This particular system has been a straight Type II analog system. However, the town has been getting ready to move some communications to digital mode "any day now" for several months.

The sound I was hearing was occurring on analog talkgroups.

Dave,

Let us know how it works after you upgrade the DSP and CPU........
I am very interested to see if it fixes your issue.

It was night and day here in CT.

Thanks,
