I think someone mentioned on-board recording... related to that, an "instant replay" button could be very useful, like the time shifting satellite radio receivers offer.

HomePatrol-1 has this.

A digital trunking scanner that will handle the multi-site trunking systems.

BCD996XT, BCD396XT, BCT15X, BC346XT has this.

I wouldn`t mind seeing the following, recieve of Mototurbo and D-STAR in addition to what has already been mentioned, i use D-STAR quite a lot around here, and it would be nice to be able to listen to the local D-STAR repeater while i`m on an analog one in case someone calls me. Mototurbo would be fun just to have another mode to listen to and compare notes on :). N9NRA

I like to have something like the 996XT with no face totally computer controled with tcp/ip or USB 2 or 3. Kind of like the winradio but all the goodies of the 996XT plus more , also add in TRBO,NXDN, APCO-25 Phase2 (TDMA ,FDMA) and D-STAR .
A BCD2011XT-C?

I would just like a quality speaker and audio amplifier in whatever they produce. Everything they make now has the lowest grade componets available in the audio output end. Junk amplifiers and junk speakers equal junk out the speaker. I have no hope for uniden anymore when it comes to audio quality. Year after year and scanner after scanner they can't get it right or just refuse to get it right.

A 386XT with dual receivers (Like the Icom R-20) and capable of scanning 1khz to 1.3Ghz (like the AOR 8200 mk III)...

I would like to see dual receivers, but for a different reason. I would like to be able to priority scan without disrupting normal communications to check priorities. It is so annoying that currently that I don't even use priority scanning on my BCD396XT.

Oh, almost forgot. I'd love to see the ability to scan through FTOs...

if you mean scan for fto's & scan at the same time = not possible.

if you mean scan more than 1 fto on different frequencies at the same time = still not possible.

if your looking for a technical explanation, search tru fto's in the search bar. or the fto wiki.

Thats exactly why I would like dual receivers. So I have have open priorities without the skippong and choppyness that exists now.

MIL 810 Spec

We definitely need a unit with a MIL810 spec that has the durability for public safety and the audio to match!

the stock answer will be. scanner's are primarily aimed at a market where people don't want to spend a small fortune !. come on look at it now. people whine at having to spend $300 and up for a digital scanner.
on a personal level,i'm happy with what i have for now. i can't see dumping too many more buck's into more scanner's. i'd like to see where my county will end up encryption/technology wise, within the next few year's.

In that case, I would settle for a fully "lockable" firmware release so those of us who do maintain scanners used in public safety applications can fully restrict the functions of the radio, much more draconian than the current key safe mode which tells the users how to unlock the radio...

For me, a key item is to have ability to monitor more emission modes.

With ever more users trying out things like MOTOTRBO, Passport, etc, I believe its important future products make the reception of such systems possible.

I would like a scanner that is more professional grade- heavy duty- Better audio built in. Better decoding of digital. Not a painted case that wears off. D-star a must. My 10yr old vertex radio looks better than the 396xt-Because of the molded case and aluminum frame, and the Belt clip is better. It was only $125., and has a transmitter also
A few small changes and the 396-XD Extra duty could get another $100 from me. Also professional grade antenna . Uniden may be missing the market as most will always be willing to pay for better quality and quality features. Tahoe-Yukon-Escalade example. I have had scanners since i was 12yr old Had a tough time getting the first one at $350 for bearcat one. 37 yrs later- i don't care what it costs if it delivers. In todays worthless dollars my first scanner would be close to $1k today. If they were willing to make a HP1 for appliance operators- please think about a comm grade scanner for the pros. I have had at least 50 uniden scanners, and lately wanting a GRE after programming and listening to a few i have programmed for others.
My friends in the media business would like a scanner like a comm radio also, as they use and abuse them everyday, mainly abuse as they don't pay for them.

A Scanner similar to the BCD996xt that can handle a lot more than 20 Groups Per System and 500 Talkgroup IDs per trunked system. The Louisiana LWIN system has a whole lot more ID's than 500 and still adding to their system and would love to have scanner that can handle that amount of Talkgroups per system. Too bad we can't include the 700 Encryption on the next one to.

Another good feature i`d kinda like is the abaility to hook the unit up to a smartphone and program it from the RR database that way (with a cable and the appropreiate on-phone app), and provisions for a microSD card so one could have more than one profile (program freqs/TGID`s for different areas/uses or different radio settings, want to store all the channels/TG`s for a big TRS? one could put that all on a SD card and just pop it into the scanner, much more efficient than how we do it now. You are aware I hope that we are discussing our wish list items for the theoretical next Uniden scanner, not the current models, correct?

I am very much aware of the FTO limitations imposed on the current generation Uniden scanners.
