Quick keys not being imported from ARC396

Not sure if this has been brought up already but

After doing some importing of all my files from ARC396PRO I noticed the quick keys BOTH system and GROUP quick keys were not being imported into FREESCAN (imported via PC file NOT from the scanner).. yes latest freescan version.

The files seemed fine but all had no System quick key, and no group keys

I thought originally that its possible my files are from an older version of ARC396, or even imported from ARC246 and got mixed up along the way...


But I download some new systems from RR in ARC396 (today with quick keys) saved them and went to import them in FREESCAN and no quick keys.


Loving freescan, and its not a huge issue to make me stop using it, was just a pain when converting over 100 ARC system files on my PC.

I basically got half way through and gave up and upload them to the scanner from ARC then downloaded from the scanner into FREESCAN, as I got tired of inputting every quick key

Where in Freescan is the place to set custom band plans for rebanded systems? I want to do custom searches using C CH only .

Can you give me the steps for that? I can't find it under the custom search box in setup scan options. The reason I ask is that every time I upload something else from Freescan these custom band plan settings are wiped out from my custom search parameters.

On the 396XT and 346XT I believe that in the custom search setup when one selects C-Ch Only, there should then be a setting for the bandplan where one selects from 800/900 Standard, 800 Splinter, or Custom. If one selects Custom, one needs to be able to enter one or more of the 6 bandplans.

This appears to be missing in FreeScan and I posted that omission to the scannow.org forum on 8/20.

Virtual Control Options?

I like your software, but I have a feature request. Are you considering multiple virtual control options for the software? In particular, most virtual control screens for these scanner programs are too large and obtrusive. It would be nice to have several options available to maximize information vs screen real estate. The ability to have a small "on top" bar with an active scanner window and perhaps a hold button would be nice. This, associated with a quick key (function key perhaps) way of bringing up the full keypad and returning to the minimized view would be great.

Also, is it possible to disassociate the virtual control screen from the main program? This would allow users to put the control screen in their PC startup, and have it automatically boot up with the PC - especially helpful for those of us who have their scanners permanently attached to their PC for listening and viewing. Also, if going this route, having the window automatically position itself in it's former location on the desktop would be nice as well.

Any thoughts?

You can use the Ipod interface and resize so it is quite small. Shouldn't take up much screen real estate, and monitors are very inexpensive these days (I use 3). No it is not possible to dissociate or have it start on startup. Sorry about that.

Read From Scanner Problem

0.9E problem with reading scanner data. I noticed after the download that all my TG alpha tags that I had centered were now moved to the left margin. It didn't do that in earlier versions.

HI. I am using version 9f and it's great so far except I noticed upon uploading systems I am consistently skipping one or two of them. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do about it? Thanks again, Great work! John L. PS or am I just skipping a channel, since no systems seem to be missing and I see a blank (000.000MHz) slot in one of my systems. I'll bet that's it. Can you confirm?
