The Scratchies

Is it the weather affecting my reception when one day the signals are clear and strong, while the next day, they're scratchy? from the exact location at home or at work, I'll get clear, strong 4-5 bar signals, like right now on my BCD396t this morning. But tonight from this same location I'l prob get 0-1 bar reception and scratchy sound.
Same goes for work. Yesterday, in my shop I was getting really great clear signals but the other day I couldn't get anything when I was going to show off my new scanner to my co worker

Weather can change your signal as you know and it sounds like that is probably what is happening to you. I see it change here also from day to day and sometimes in the same day. Here is a link that forecast Tropospheric ducting http://dxinfocentre.com/tropo.html
