On April 29, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. EDT/ 7:00 a.m. PDT, Turner Classic Movies will televise the 1965 classic "The Slender Thread." Shot on location the city of Seattle in 1964, this movie shows the city's dispatch centers of both the police and fire departments at that time. This is when the police had just moved to VHF-High band, but the fire department was still on VHF-Low band.
The movie features an all-star cast including:
Sidney Poitier
Anne Bancroft
Telly Savalas
Steven Hill (The original leader of the Mission Impossible team)
Edward Asner
The movie was nominated for two oscars. TCM will reshow this movie again one week later. Nonethless, tune and enjoy some very interesting footage from Seattle's Police and Fire Dispatch Centers, and a very well-written drama as well.
