I've had great success with this unit in the past (vhf lo/hi and 400) but I'm curious as to anyone's input as far as 800 reception. It says it covers all frequencies but I believe it doesn't do so well in that range. I realize using a range specific antenna is best for 800 but just wondering if it will pick it up at all.

I'm getting full bars from 800 systems 30-40 miles away with my ST-2.

I don't remember where I read it, I'm guessing it was on one of these forums, but I thought I read that people didn't do so well with it for the 800 range.

I won't be able to get it out on the roof for a while and our area in central NY only has a few 800 systems in place as of now but it will still be of great use for the rest off my scanning activity.

Can I also assume

that you have it out n up in a "good" location?
