Yes, everyone is going APX Next. Should roll out this year if everything goes to plan.Looks like Morristown and Hamblen County are officially joining the TACN system by this: https://cms1files.revize.com/morristown/Administration&Council/Council_Agendas/2022 Agendas/February 15, 2022 CC.pdf . The contract for the TACN system is also attached starting on Page 95 of this document. Also, some people might want to lookout for new talkgroups appearing on the frequencies on this license: ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WRPF858 - MORRISTOWN, CITY OF .
I’m also wondering about the probation office. I’ve never heard them on the system and I’m wondering if they even have a TGIDI am trying to find the following agencies' talkgroups on TACN: TN Department of Revenue - Special Investigations, TN Department of Corrections - Office of Investigations and Compliance, and TN Alcoholic Beverage Commission - Law Enforcement Section. Do any of these agencies have any talkgroups on TACN, and if so, what are some of them? I believe that I have heard TABC Special Agents on 47140 in the Chattanooga area, but I did not listen enough to verify this talkgroup. Also, I have heard some TDOC Office of Investigations and Compliance Agents on Law Mutual Aids, but I have not found some channels of their own.
In the Knoxville area the TDOC Probation and Parole Officers do not carry radios on them. They may have access to radios on TACN though. However last time I checked they do not have access to any of KPD or KCSO channels on TACN. In Nashville, I heard some of them carry APX series radios and keep their radios on Metro Police Dispatch talkgroups. Have not verified that though. Outside of Nashville, I have no idea.I’m also wondering about the probation office. I’ve never heard them on the system and I’m wondering if they even have a TGID
I was out there about a month ago. Coverage was nothing to really write home about in respect to TACN in some parts of Carter and Johnson County. 7/800 is definitely going to be challenging due to the landscape. I’d doubt they will be able to use VHF on TACN although I know it is in limited use across the state. Probably got some grant money would be my guess. Personally I think it is a good move but it is going to be a major project.Wow... Carter County will be joining TACN. Link below from Johnson City Press. Interesting, as they have been futzing about with some sort of DMR conversion project over the past few months.
