Hey everyone, I’ve been providing a feed for many years, but now that my county has switched over to TACN, my setup no longer works. I’m sure this has already been covered in here and I have searched some of the other threads, but what do I need to purchase to get my broadcast back online? Thanks in advance
If you have a spare computer laying around, or can find a cheap one, get a couple SDR Dongles and put SDR Trunk on the computer. The dongles are VERY CHEAP, and the software is free. Dongles average about $40, and the more you have the wider your bandwidth capabilities.

TACN to expand and receive additional funding in the proposed Tennessee State Budget.

News Article - see the Safe Neighborhoods section, next to the last bullet of the article:
$357M for network expansion of the Tennessee Advanced Communication Network (TACN) to transition remaining state agencies into TACN, improve coverage and provide infrastructure grants for local agencies to join TACN.

Proposed State Budget - see page B-234:
Statewide Radio System Infrastructure
  • To provide non-recurring funding for infrastructure improvements to the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN) system. $178,904,400

Statewide Radio System Maintenance
  • To provide recurring funding for the annual maintenance fees in the Motorola contract to expand the
    TACN system. $500,000
These numbers don't add up to $357M, but there may be some admin costs that aren't line items in the budget.

I now see that the reason why these didn't add up is because the proposed state budget above was last year's budget and not the current proposal. Apologies! However, it does seem that $357M is a boost in funding from last year.

Sorry but they came from the State of Tn surplus after THP got new radios.
They acquired them because of the wording distressed county.
Any idea what kind of new radios they bought? I'm curious if they are still using Motorola/Kenwood, or if they are trying Harris radios (not sure what other major vendors are used here).

Saw an unfamiliar talkgroup 47188 (encrypted) with UID 40202XX. THP has some 402xxxx UIDs, could this be another one of their channels?

Is there another site, other than here on RR, that one can get a list of all talkgroups on the TACN, especially those that have been recently added?
