Although rr.com is top heavy with Yankees and Canucks, I for one, really enjoy reading post from other parts of the world. :)

The structure of the database is such that it easy to populate it with local information. A quick look at the UK section of the database shows a slim selection of information. If there is nothing for people to congreate around, they are not going to.

If you really would like to make a difference, petition Lindsay for Database Admin rights for your area. As you add more information, it will get index by Google and other search engines which in turn will start getting UK traffic to the site. If your work is good and you have the desire, I am sure that he will grant you access to other areas.

I'm sure lots of people from the UK use the site, like the above poster I enjoy reading about systems from the US. They seem to put more emphasis on radios which leads to some really nice (from an enthusaists point of view) radio systems.

There are UK Yahoo groups out there which are successful and busy with UK frequency info but I really do think we could use the database here to log trunked systems. Not only is the format on RR easy to read but its easy for people to submit.

It would be nice if someone from the UK could edit the UK database section and make the process of uploading data faster (I wouldn't mind), i've added about 7 systems to the database so far and have lots more to add. I do fell a bit guilty though submitting all the info only for someone on the other side of the world to have to try and make sense of, especially if they are not flamiliar to the country.

How about frequency info for Ireland? I was there a couple of years ago and was not very lucky in finding info before the trip. Now the wife is talking about retiring there someday.
Both of our grandparents came from there. Any ideas for frequency info? Thanks.

Hi,
Had a little search around and found this Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ni_scanner/

Not a member myself but it looks quite established. I believe the NI Police are using a system called 'Barracuda' which is basicly a UHF TETRA system like 'Airwave' on the mainland.

That's correct, they are using a TETRA system. And it's encrypted, so no scanning possible.
