Right, those call-in reports are kept off the air these days. The main hospitals are supposed to have a fixed VHF radio for HEAR, and all BLS ambulances providing emergency medical services in the State of New Jersey are required to have a VHF mobile radio and one VHF portable for this purpose as well under N.J.A.C. 8:40-6.13.
However, most of the hospitals have their deskset radios (Motorola MC1000s, Zetron 360s, etc.) turned all the way down or completely disconnected; and the dedicated HEAR radio in the ambulances sit idle and/or powerless until inspection time rolls around.
