Good evening to all.

I must start off by saying that this forum is certainly FULL of excellent information, and to someone like me- can be very overwhelming.

I just got a Uniden BCT8 and started programming it. I put all of my local towers in it (freq), and agency ID's (DEC)

I verified using my own fire portable that my scanner is picking up my fire dept which runs mainly on VHF. However, I cannot seem to get the scanner to scan both VHF and TMR (motorola) at the same time. Is this a common issue?

I have read the manual many many times, however I just can't seem to get it. Perhaps I need to take a break from it considering I'm so new, and there is sooooooo much to understand.

Thank you in advance.
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada- and have programmed the Tantallon, and Queensland towers in for TMR.

Thank you

thanks for the replies and links.

I don't have a portable scanner per say- but I carry 2 fire radios. 1 vhf, and 1 tmr.

I have the frequencies in there for my area, which would be the tantallon and queensland towers. I also put in the talkgroups (DEC #'s as per the radio reference frequency charts) I'm just not hearing near as much as I should. Maybe I should post this in the Uniden forum eh? The reason I posted here was because I figured where I was new, this would be the most appropriate spot.

Thanks again....

Hello Coolen and welcome to Radioreference. You will not find a nicer and more helpful bunch of people anywhere else on the web. I have been listening to police and fire since 1959 and have never enjoyed it so much as I have since I have joined here.

I really believe if you ask your questions in your local forum you'll get the answers you need. I think it is here Atlantic and Maritime - The RadioReference.com Forums

I live in South Florida but when I travel to different states I always check into the local forum and find a lot of helpful people more than willing to share their information with me.

Thanks for the greetings!! Is it acceptable for me to post the link to this thread in my local forum? Or should I just start over there?

Thanks again!!
