I have several scanners; most recently a BC 235, 245, 780 and 785D.

My 235 is broken; want allow me to charge; I gave my 245 to a son 300 miles away; separed wife has my 780 and I dropped my 785 moving it from my office to my car where it primarily stays. I have sent it back to Uniden for repair and its going to be 2-3 weeks before I get it back. I miss my scanner.

Suggestions??????????

Never have had a Radio Shack. Thinking about Pro 96. I read the list in another thread about camparing Uniden and Radio Shack. In my area, APCO - 25 [9600] not presently in use.

One requirement [I am lazy] I need to be able to program frequencies and talk groups through my computer.

What do you reccomend? Or, is something soon on the horizone to allow trunk tracking EDACS Pro Voice.

I am addicted to my scanner; please advise ASAP.

Thank all of you.

Hello,

I do not think there will be a ProVoice scanner anytime soon.

If there is no prospect of 9600 baud P25 systems but there is some P25 usage in your area I would look at some of the deals on the BC250D/Digital Card combo.

If you are not interested in P25 digital at all it will depend on the size. The new BC246T looks like a winner for a handheld and will be available later this month. I have a BC898T that works very well. Bigger than a BC780 but you can still put it in the car. I like the rapid CTCSS/DCS decode. It does not have alpha tags.

Ocassionally Radio Shack does a $50 off sale on the Pro-95. There is a good Win95 program that can program it. It appears to be bigger than the BC246T. It has alpha tags.

If you don't need the digital, BC246T.

If you do, PRO-96.

Hmm.. that paragraph has given me an idea for a Country & Western
song :D

I see that Mc Comb/Pike County MS has no digital systems and your
785 will be returned shortly anyways.
There is an LTR system there though, perhaps a scanner with this feature should be considered. Check out site 009 on this link.
