All my scanners are "old school", non trunktracking, non digital. I know that Boise, Garden City, Meridian, etc have all changed to the new 700 MHz system.
Any suggestions about a new scanner so I can listen to police dispatch again...
Thanks,

I assume you are aware that much of the law enforcement in the Boise area on 700 MHz is encrypted and can not be monitored. Since all digital scanners are in the $400-$500 range new, consider that your ability to monitor law enforcement will probably be limited. You also need to decide if you want a portable or base/mobile version.
I would suggest you read all the posts in the Idaho forum, if you haven't already done so, relating to the Boise area before you make a decision. You can get a feel for how much you can hear that is not encrypted.
If you decide to buy a new scanner, you have a choice of these digital trunktracking scanners:
Uniden - BCD 996XT(base & mobile)
BCD 396XT(portable)
Home Patrol (new model)
BCD 396T(portable) & 996T (base) are older digital scanners
GRE - PSR 600(base & mobile)
PSR 500(portable)
Radio Shack - Pro-197(base/mobile) essentially the same as PSR600
Pro-106(portable) essentially the same as PSR500
See the RR Wiki here for details on these models:

I also suggest you look at the Radio Shack, GRE, and Uniden forums for the pros and cons of these scanners. They all work on the Idaho 700 System and much of the choice of scanner is personal preference,
