thinking of going digital

Hello this is my first post and was considering going digital but need to know if its worth the cost. I live in mahoning county near austintown. Are there anyone using digital in this area?

I think the 996 is worth the money (fine radio) they ask but whether it is worth it to you that is up to you. You can scroll through the talk groups of the MARCS and see what use's the system in your area. Of course if you are interested in listening to OSP then you need to monitor MARCS system.

If you like listening to mainly the Highway Patrol, then a digital scanner would be a good choice. I live in Portage County and listen to Trumbull and Mahoning County. Most of the action there is on analog (same as in Portage County). I like hearing the Hwy Patrol so I have a PRO-96. If you do decide to go digital, take a look at the PSR-500. It seems to be the favorite of many digital scanner owners. There are lots of reviews on this web page too.
