I think that is one of those no license interent business freqs, probably has to be low power too. I hear overhead cranes using it in my neighborhood.

I have found numerous users on these Itinerant frequencies, from your local Walmart to the traffic services people directing traffic.

Firepolice & Fire service up this way and Schuylkill County like to use the itinerant frequencies as well. Does a PL/DPL pop up, If so put in and monitor with it on.

Maybe they needed a spare frequency and didn't want to spend the money to license proper even though you still should be for these frequencies or the local radio shop is licensed and letting them operate that frequency?

461.8375/466.8375 (PL 192.8) is the repeater referred to by the fire companies as the "township repeater". This is the repeater used by the UMPD dispatch desk to contact fire units off the 800 system.

It is sometimes used by fire company personnel to talk back and forth if they're out of range for their simplex fireground channels.

The business band frequency you're asking about was submitted to the database by someone as an on-scene simplex channel for King of Prussia Fire Co. fire police.

Ok, but whats the non sense being heard on it the rest of the time, when its not being used as a simplex for 47's fire police?

secondly, the 461.8375...althoguh listeed as a twp. repeater, usually broadcasts what sounds like security guards or maintenance personnel, any ideas why?

Could be anybody. As mentioned, this is a business band itinerant and is used by lots of transient users. Could be a store, construction site, or anybody.

Phoenixville Hospital is using this frequency without a license for their security. The PL that the hospital is using is 173.8 if memory serves me correctly.

out of curiosity Ben, how were u able to tell it was phoenixville hospital, , by monitoring?..

secondly, maybe im not phrasing this correctly, but here goes, could UM twp use that frequency that p-ville hosp. uses, but with a diff tone?...can multiple agencies use a frequency, as long as they have individual tones?? kind of a rookie question i guess.

There is no requirement for different users on the same frequency to use any tone at all. Often, they do it as "self-defense" so they don't have to listen to anyone else. With unlicensed itinerant frequencies, dozens of uses could be using them with or without tone in the same general area. Because they are limited to low power, there is less chance of interference if they are 3-5 miles(rough approximation for MM. BM is another story) apart. Interestingly enough there are also many licensed users on 464.55 that have more power allowed than any unlicensed. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stcd=PA&freq=464.55&action=sf
