I live in District "ISP"25, My programing on my "GRE-500" is great for 4 counties around me, I have got it set on roam, check all C.C. and SUPERTRACK! HOW DO I or what do I do to here ISP district "52" Indianapolis?
As of right now I have the talkgroups programmed in for them, BUT they are silent? I only live 4-5 miles from a tower, so reception is not a problem. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD HELP! I f I had it my way I would like to listen to the whole state of Indiana SAFE-T ? And thought I could with it roaming from tower to tower? DO I NEED TO PUT MORE TOWER LOCATIONS IN TO DO THIS? HELP

You are only going to be able to pickup the ISP district that covers your county, and the districts that cover the neighboring counties. You will only pick up district 52 when a radio that is affiliated with district 52 is located in the coverage area of your local towers.

You cannot pick up tower locations at longer distance because of the propagation characteristics of 800 MHz radio systems.

So it is not realistic to be able to pick up the whole state of Indiana on SAFE-T on a regular basis. There is nothing you can do with your settings to change that.

If you're wanting to be able to hear all SAFE-T traffic for the whole state from one place, there is no way to do that. That's not how the system works. You can only hear the talkgroups that are being used in your area. With an outdoor antenna, you can probably pick up more than one tower, but not the whole state.

wildcard

If you are not exactly sure what all you can hear off the towers in your area, make sure you put a wildcard in. That way you can "search" talkgroups. It might get a little annoying hearing some things you may not be interested in, but those can be locked out.

Good advice. And you could always pick up a random transmission on a statewide TG on a radio affiliated with a distant tower. I have actually heard DNR up on Lake Michigan this past summer. But don't count on hearing that every day though.

I would also be a good idea to monitor INDOT TGs this time of year. It's a great way to keep up with road conditions.

Do you have the Pendleton tower programmed? Sometimes you will hear Dist 52 on that one if you have the TG for 52 in there as well. I don't have a 500 so I can't tell you the steps needed.

Depending on your location, you may need an outdoor antenna to receive the Pendleton tower.
