• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So the back upper part of my case broke. Its where the battery latch would clip to. So now my KNG 2 will no longer keep the battery secured to it.
Looking at the KNG site its showing $440 non warranty repair. Plus its possible i would have to also pay for parts.
"These charges do not include the repair or replacement of accessories (such as batteries, antennas, case parts, etc.) and do not include shipping charges." While it says case parts not sure if that also includes the case itself. I miss the good ole Motorola (back when i worked on radios for a moto radio shop) days where you could order parts, like a basic housing. I reached out to BK service and they do not sell housings or at least would not sell one to me.
For 100 bucks more i might be able to find a used SDS100. So weighing my options.
I did check ebay for a broken KNG2 radio that i could buy for parts but didnt see any. So any thoughts or suggestions?

7011-30994-503 Lexan Case for KNG-P Series Radios. They are easy to swap, about $150.00 or so list.

KNG2 case is slightly different than KNG.

Link to 49er

You may try calling BK again with the specific part number shown on the 49er site, 7011-90153-000, and see if they'll sell you one.

Thank you all. I used to repair radios and have done hundreds of Jedi radios and warris radios. Re-cased a few APX as well so im familiar with radio repair. But never taken apart a KNG2. I am glad to learn i can order a housing.
