THP District 1 & 2

Wife and I are flying into Knoxville and spending a week in Gatlinburg & over to Lynchburg (Jack Daniels!). I noticed that THP has 1 clear and 1 encrypted channel for their dispatch. Are they encrypted or just 50/50? I'll be bringing my Harris P7250 with me so I can keep an ear out.

General Dispatch is clear. If they have an more sensitive situation they go to the encrypted ch.

In case you weren't aware, Lynchburg, TN is in Moore County, and is covered by the THP Lawrenceburg District, #7. THP Chattanooga District #2, covers the adjoining counties of Coffee and Franklin.

District 7 isnt usually too exciting. Ive listened a lot and only caught 1 pursuit. However, I got lucky because the trooper didnt change to the encrypted pursuit channel.
THP's radio traffic is more polite and structured than most.
