How does the THP do their dispatching?

About a month ago, I took 35 South to Temple/Bell County, I'm actually getting ready to move down there as well, but that's a different story altogether.

I've got a couple of Digitals so that wasn't a problem.
But all I ever heard them do, was 28/29 checks..

So, do they ever actually do any dispatching? such as
6213, Accident at the 325 mile marker.
Or CNI Driver at the 292 South Bound.

Or do they use their MDTs (If they even have any) or other for stuff like that?

thanks

I know the DPS is dispatched two different ways. Some DPS units are dispatched through local county dispatchers for accidents and such. Also the state has Dispatch centers around the state and they also do dispatching for the units under them.

DPS dispatching

Texas DPS troopers do not have MDTs in thier cars. You will hear the units dispatched by local agencies sometimes or over the Texas DPS VHF freqs. Here in Fort Bend County some Troopers have 800 radios and talk to the county dispatch and to DPS Pierce. It just really depends on where you are listening.

Ok, so the areas I went through they must have used the counties 800 System(s).

That was mostly Bell County.
Because I usually could pick up the VHF frqs. pretty good.

Here in Brazoria County troopers are either dispatched by DPS Texas City or Brazoria County SO. Most of the time you will hear the SO dispatcher call for a trooper and if one doesnt answer they will call DPS Texas City and they will dispatch a trooper.

Also on the MDT thing, DPS doesnt have computers in their cars but I read on their website they are getting them. They are creating their own stand alone system that is going to be for DPS only. They had a thing talking about need like 750 laptops just for all the patrol cars.

Typical government agency. Re-invent the wheel. They must have taken lessons from the Real Police, sorry, I meant to say, the Houston Police Department.
