Three questions on using this balun for HF receive antennas

1. If I am using just a random wire antenna, which terminal do I connect the wire too?

2. Would connecting two random wire antennas to this balun work (one connected to each terminal)?

3. Would connecting two loop antennas to this balun work (one connected to each terminal)?

I've never used a balun. Before I purchase a balun, I need to learn a few things. Thanks.

That thing looks too heavy to swing in the air. Let me give you an idea. TV antenna balun connected to one wire 24' long and the other 42' long. Wire should be #22 ga or close. Called a Windom. Would cover sw bands. Connect RG-58 to balun with "F" connector. This installation does not weigh much and easy to get in air. One end should be higher than the other. Balun should read "short" from any connection to another. If it reads "open" then it want work. Should be able to buy one at Wal*Mart. Good Luck, Larry

Baluns for TV get fairly bad down at HF.

The particular balun you submitted is designed to convert ladder line or a balanced feed line to coax or unbalanced to bring it into the house around metal.

Njay: Its a 4:1 transformer. It has no frequency rating. Have one Yeasu 8800 since 1984. Can hear a frog fart in Fargo. Have tapes of Gulf war comms etc. Try it, you''ll like it.
