Through the roof mount on a Chevy Truck

Does anyone know or have experience with putting a through the roof NMO antenna mount on a late model Chevy Truck? I have heard that in earlier years, Chevy put some kind of extra bracing in the roof right under the interior light to be support an antenna installation in the roof. I am not sure that they still do. Can anyone advise?

Its still there, when I swapped the light in mine I saw the extra layer of metal.

I have one on my 2004 GMC Sierra, it was pretty typical. I only had to drill through 1 layer of sheet metal. Ran the coax down the rear pillar by pulling off the rear dome light.
