Throw back scanners forum (old scanners)

I know it wont happen, but worth a shot. :lol:

How about a forum for all those who still tinker with classics like the pro-43 or the pro 2006 and all other old scanners.

Threads would include basic questions about the scanners and as well legal mods (led signal meter mods, speed mods, memory mods, computer interface mods, etc.)

I have found that when one posts in the scanning/radioshck forums about older scanners, that they get pushed down real quick by other threads about new scanners. The folks on here that would know a great deal about these older scanners may not come by the forums as much as the younger "high tech" scanner enthusiasts who don't know much about old non-trunking scanners.

I am a 25 year old male trying to learn as much as I can about the scanning hobby. I would really like to see a new topic for older scanners, I guess we could call it the "Pre trunking scanner forum".

Actually i find this would be a great section to add to the forum. I own a Pro-42 (i just fixed it today), and a Pro-95. I would be interested to be able to discuss the older scanners in a more organized fasion.

I use an old Uniden BC 55xlt along with my BC250d.

Radio Shack PRO-41 here, bought new, still going strong.

There is kinda a Yahoo! group for it... vintagescanners... but maybe a forum would be nice too?

I would like to see such a forum also include associated equipment such as the HB/CE-232, PROgromit, and RWSytems interfaces.

Some of these devices are no longer supported, some use parts that are discontinued, or their manufacturers are no longer with us.

It doesn't have to be just vintage scanners, it could also include other types of VHF/UHF receivers that were popular back in the day.

My primary analog scanner is PRO-2006! I will never part with it...

There's even a BC101 (dip switches) sitting underneath the 780xlt!!!

I agree, I have an old BC855XLT, and my brother in law has a pre digital general electric, with 4 knobs to change the frequency.

I had one of them it was my very first scanner...I was so cool not having to install crystals.

I still have mine and is one of my al time favorites...alot of people claim the 2006 as king and I have one of them as well but if i had to pick one it would be the Pro-2042 it has alot more features..

My first scanner was a Radio Shack Realistic handheld, not sure of the model (1978-79), it was a 4 channel Hi/Lo with Crystals, work’s but it’s packed away for now. Then I got a Bearcat/Uniden 210 XLT 18 channel Programmable. My next scanner’s were another Radio Shack Realistic Pro 2006 and a Pro 43 the last one is a Uniden BC785D. All are still working 100%, don’t know what ill get when the rebanding kick’s in.
