Hello:

I was wondering if anyone monitoring this forum could point me towards any of the frequencies for Tijuana Police as well as the Baja State Judicial Police frequencies, and the fire department frequencies for Tijuana and the surrounding areas. Also, any police codes that you may know of would also help greatly.

I was just wondering if anyone in San Diego or Tijuana knows any of this information. It seems to be hard to locate.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Search between 166 to 169 MHz, I believe I've heard the Tijuana there. I don't know if these are still used but here are the freqs listed in the SoCal Police Call 2001 Directory

166.125 - Tijuana Police (Ch-1)
166.300 - Tijuana Police (Ch-2 La Mesa)
166.425 - Tijuana Police (Ch-3 San Antonio)
166.525 - Tijuana Police (Ch-4 Playas)
166.650 - Tijuana Police (Central)
166.725 - Tijuana Police (Rosarito)
166.625 - Tijuana Police (La Presa)
166.100 - Tijuana Police (Otay Mesa)
166.675 - Tijuana Police (SWAT)
169.050 - Tijuana Police (Bank escort)
151.400 - Tijuana Fire

166.875 - Ensenada Police
169.725 - Ensenada Traffic Police

166.500 - Mexicali Police Ch-1
166.275 - Mexicali Police Ch-2
166.700 - Mexicali Police Ch-3
166.800 - Mexicali Police Ch-4
166.075 - Mexicali Fire

166.925 - Rosarito Beach Police
151.400 - Rosarito Beach Fire

171.900 - Tecate Police
171.950 - Tecate Fire
172.550 - Tecate Police/Fire ?

161.300 - Baja State Judicial Police
160.225 - Baja State Judicial Police

Unfortunately I do not speak Español, so I cannot confirm these but it might give you a start.
Hopefully somebody can confirm. These could also be outdated since there are some TETRA systems coming online.

In addition to the above, I also had 166.8 for the TJ PD, however, recently the Tijuana PD was SHUT DOWN by the Mexican government due to widespread corruption. Supposedly, local law enforcement is now handled by the federal police. During the first days of this shutdown, the freqs were riddled with garbage, people rebroadcasting AM radio over the freqs, and it sounded like CB, however, I don't hear much on any of them anymore except 166.8 and 166.425. But I don't habla español so, not even sure if this freq was theirs.

Update: Most of those freqs seem to be active still, but not sure with what or by whom.

Tijuana ans Surrounding Areas Law Enforcement

Thanks for the info Joey and Brandon! This should provide a good start. Does anybody know if the Tijuana Police force will be reinstated, or is this disbandment temporary?

Also, is there anyway to monitor the Federal Police down there?

If anyone else has any other Tijuana area Police frequencies, police codes, or federal government frequencies, or fire or emergency services frequencies, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks again,

Steve

It's temporary, however, any date is a TBA, because this is an operation tackling organized crime (drug trafficking), all information is kept secret, so there are not too many details.

If you live in San Diego, fine, nothing will happen to you, but don't go to Tijuana with the scanner, there are federal police and army checkpoints in the city and its surroundings, and the last thing you want is being caught scanning them in the middle of this operation.

Let me see if I can get the frequencies for the Federal Police and the Army from friends or the internet.

As for the Judicial Police, I don't know what's their current status, most Judicial Police agencies were disbanded years ago, including the Federal one, some states kept their Judicial Police, and some renamed them to Ministerial Police (and some merged them into it, if they had already created it), but I don't know the info for BC.

I neither know for the Federals, but, I believe that one of their divisions, the PFP (Federal Highway Police) use only a few frequencies in the entire country.

Hello all,

I was just wondering, with the recent wave of violence in Tijuana, if anyone has uncovered any new law enforcement frequencies down there?

More specifically, this week the cartels have been battling it out with law enforcement at all levels as well as the Mexican military.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any Mexican army or military frequencies used in the Tijuana area?

Thanks,

Steven

Hi All,

I know this post is rather old at this point. However, I wanted to provide an update. I tried listening to Tijuana PD recently just to see what appears active these days. I want to thank Brandon for the list he provided above. I used this as a starting point and searched on my own as well. I was only able to confirm a handful of frequencies as still active by Tijuana Police. Here is what I can confirm as still active frequencies.

166.100
166.125
166.425
166.525
166.800

As Joey mentioned, it appears Tijuana PD is using 166.800. Regarding all the other frequencies from the list, they were either inactive at the times I monitored, or the activity did not appear consistent with law enforcement communications.

I should also add that I have heard 151.400 active at times as well. I can also confirm that on at least one occasion I have hears a siren in the background, which would be consistent with public safety communications. However, my spanish is limited, so I could not tell if the user was in fact Tijuana Fire Department or some other public safety agency.

Is 166.800 still TJPD primary? Apparently, the CHP and CBP have shut down the freeways (5/805) leading into Mexico due to heavy gas rioting...was going to try to see if I could hear any activity.
