Looking to upgrade from my 245XLT to a digital model...

I've narrowed down some choices:

1. Uniden BC796D
2. Uniden BC296D
3. Uniden BCD-396T (due to be released)
4. Go with another manufacturer like Icom...

I’m looking for a digital scanner to cover the trunking bands, civil and military aircraft bands. The RS 2096 just won't cut it... a lot of gaps in freq coverage.

Any thoughts, ideas, comments, questions???

Thanks in advance...

Hi K9kazoo,

I would wait for the BCD396T when it comes out sometime this year. The 396 is supposed to have Military Air, and has an AGC to compensate volume differences between digital and analog. Apparently it's supposed to rival the Pro96 in that regard.

As far as an ICOM unit, Icom doesn't make a digital scanner. I suppose the PCR1000 has a discriminator out, but there's no software for Apco25 decoding.

I have the 246T, and just love the numerous features of this scanner. The BCD396T is supposed to have all the 246T features and some other major improvements like 100 quick keys!! You won't regret going the BCD396T route thats for sure.

Regards,
Richster.

So all that said has Uniden set a date for the 396's release? Any new specs on the 396 I might have missed?

Another Medic just bought the 246T and he loves it! I need digital!!! :p
