• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I believe this belongs here since the Kenwood website says it's a land mobile radio but I'm not sure.

I am looking for a radio to program for my two fire departments and 1 EMS company so that I only need to carry around 1 radio and found one of these being offered for $72.00 brand new.

Just had a few questions about the TK-2107

1. I have seen forums that say this is a HAM radio but the Kenwood website says it's an LMR. Someone please confirm that it is a LMR.

2. Is this radio easy to program?

3. Is the price concerning to anyone? There is a return policy but I am still a little skeptical.

4. Will it work with repeater operation?

5. Kenwood says its 25khz and 12.5khz spacing. Does that mean it is narrowband compatiable?

And 6. Does anyone have any expierence they would like to share? i,e, Is it a decent radio? How well does it work? etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
