The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just picked up this radio used and has been working great. I added a KRA-22 antenna. I noticed that it looks like the center conductor in the radio jack isn't sticking out as much as it is suppose to. (Please see attached photo.) Does someone mind posting a picture of there center conductor. If it does need to be replaced is there somewhere I can find instructions. And does the installation require soldering? Thank you all in advance.

The antenna jack is a reverse SMA connector. The whole thing is a part of the main frame and you will have to replace the frame.

Ordering the frame is very hard unless you are a dealer, it would be better to take it to a dealer and let them do the replacement.

Uh, no. It is a standard SMA male and by the picture I can see the center pin is broken off. Needs to be replaced.

Hardest part is getting the guts out of the case. Once you do that you'll see the connector is held to the frame with two screws. Take the screws out and lift it gently up, no soldering required. Installing the new one you'll see the bottom of the center pin will contact a gold finger piece down the hole. Just get it in right and reinstall the screws. Dab of locktite will help keep them in place.

+1 for what Ramal 121 said. Its harder to get out of the housing than it is to replace the connector.
I would also double check and make sure that the broken pin piece isn't still inside of the antenna. Makes for a bad day if you screw the antenna on and break the pin again!!
