• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am new to this whole deal. I work with a public agency and have purchased a TK-2207 and am having trouble finding information on this radio. I have since figured out it is not typically sold in the U.S., is this correct?? Also, any ideas on getting the programming software for this unit? I have the cable and radio being shipped, but can not find software. I hear Kenwood keeps their software pretty lock-tight.

Thanks for any help

Looked and there is no TK-2207 in USA price pages. It has 2200L and 2200LP. Software would be the KPG-88D, but it does not reference a 2207 either. Not sure what market thats for.

Kenwood TK-2207

Hello,

I did some looking around and found that the 2207/3207 models are marketed out of Singapore. I also located the software for these radios which is the KPG-87D. Hope this helps out.

Sorry this is so old, but I just picked up one of these radios from ebay

I can program fine, at least I can program TX/RX frequencies and CTCSS tones and I can hook the local repeater. It is very local, so it doesn't say much for what kind of distance I am getting.

I can't seem to use the "radio information" link in the software. I can't program the second button (bottom most button). Software is KPG-87D.

Finally, and most importantly to me. The transmit audio is extremely muffled. I know this is a $65 radio so I should not expect much, but does anyone have any advice or have experienced similar issues?

I talked to some of the guys who posted the warnings on eBay about these radios. One guy bought a bunch of these and had luck by opening up the mic hole and removing the microphone cover. I decided to open up the case and do the same. I tried 1 - opening the hole up and 2 - removing the microphone cover which is a sort of rubber cover with a small opening in the middle of it. Neither of these helped at all. The audio is very muffled still. The seller has agreed to send me another body for a minimal cost that we're going to try.

Another problem is putting the chassis back in the case. It is rather difficult to get the buttons to line up properly for some reason and I managed to rip the speaker leads off the PCB, so I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary. Entirely fixable, but more hassle than it is worth.

Overall, I would recommend that if you're looking for good audio out of this radio, an external mic may be necessary. The problem is that I want this radio to be easy to use, small form, and water resistant. So I will check the next unit to see if the audio is better... if not I will tolerate the muffled audio in exchange for it's water resistance and portability.

does that mean counterfeits have taken over?

the software is kpg47d
and you can download from the radio but not upload to it with a Baofeng UV5 USB programming cable.
I will look into if modifying the wiring to the 2.5mm & 3.5mm pins will do the job of uploading.
