If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just purchased a few TK 353 radios on ebay and one of them is flashing "PROG" when the radio is turned on, I've tried holding down the light button and C to get it in program mode but it wont change to PC. Is this radio bricked or is there a way to get it out of the mode it is in? I have the programming software and cable but with it in the current mode I can't get the pc to see the radio. Any suggestions? Anybody know how to fix this?

Not a lot of experience with those older radios but there are three things that would come up in the display with a custom power on. "PC" for user programming (as you mentioned), "C" for clone mode (radio to radio) and "PROG" for firmware programming (don't hold me to this).

I bet your firmware is corrupt so the radio is coming straight into that mode asking for a refresh please. It won't do anything without correct firmware.

last I checked it was on the Kenwood dealer site in the support area.
you should perform the hardware modification to prevent it from happening again. apparently the early versions of the radio was very easy to corrupt in a low battery condition (like transmitting past the point of battery exhaustion where the radio resets)
