Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone know if the TK-5320 450-520 will program down to the 440 amateur radio band? I have other Kenwood HT's that program lower which allows me to talk on 440 and also listen to public service band.

Much appreciated.

Most 450-520 Kenwood LMR will program down to the 70cm band, I have an NX-5320 in that split and it works fine down to about 441MHz but below that the RX sensitivity falls off, BER on P25 and DMR go through the roof, and the VCO starts to unlock at around 437.

That's good to know, I have several TK-3170 and they easily do 444-449mhz. Do you know if the TK-5320 supports DCS and CTCSS I did not see it mentioned in any of the Kenwood literature?

Thank you!

These are commercial radios, not amateur. They have to have CTCSS and DCS. They would be of no use otherwise.
As to programming, the software will complain if you try to enter freqs below 450 on a 450-520 split radio, but just say yes and it will allow it. Whether the radio will take it or not, idk, since I don't have one handy.

And for the other poster, what is an NX-5320? Do you mean NX-5230? VHF P25/NXDN/DMR capable.
Most all more or less modern Kenwoods will do wideband on VHF below about 150 MHz. It's UHF that's the problem.
