TK-5710 Delay In Opening Speaker CTCSS

I have a strange problem that I can't seem to figure out. I have a bunch of Tk-5710's in analog that takes an extra second to open when receiving a transmission via a repeater.

How I figured this out was to have an XTS1500 and TK5710 right next to each other and had a test transmission from a repeater, the TK-5710 misses the first second of voice while the XTS1500 picks up right away. Again this only occurs when the transmitter opens the air and not while the repeater is in hang-time, so I assume its a delay somewhere in accepting the CTCSS tones?

Am I missing a setting, squelch? Need some ideas before calling Kenwood.

There is a feature that mutes the first few seconds of the receive audio that is intended to block the ANI. This only works if every radio in the system uses an ANI, otherwise you will miss the first bit of voice audio. I believe this setting is in the same menu where you program the ANI.

There is no ani coming from the base so it has to do with the tones taking longer then a Motorola radio to open via ctcss tones.

Unlike Motorola's DOS, Kenwoods ANI mute delay operates regardless of whether an ANI is sent or not. I also would suggest it be checked to see if it's enabled. It is done on a per-personality basis.

In programming there is a small setting in the common tab 2 page. There is a box called "Mute Delay" which is defaulted to 300ms. Once lowered to 10ms the audio is received as soon as ctcss opens the speaker. This is only for analog.
