If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, can someone help with the speaker configuration on a TK-5710 using the remote head. Does the speaker get hooked up to the remote head or radio body? TIA

I am a lineman for the county.
It can be connected to either the control head or the RF deck.

The 9 pin connector on the rear of the RF deck will give you 13 watts of output.
The 12 pin connector on the back of the KCH-15 will give you 2 watts of output. This can be modified to 13 watts output with some internal jumper resistor moves.
If you are using a KCH-14, Kenwood wants the control head internal speaker disconnected if using the external speaker.

On the 9 pin connector on the back of the RF deck, use pins 2 and 6.
On the 12 pin connector of the back of the KCH 14 or 15, use pins 10 and 11.

Rereading what I posted above, I can see where it might be confusing.

If you are using the KCH-14 with an external speaker connected to the rear 12 pin connector, Kenwood wants the internal speaker disconnected.
KCH-15 does not have an internal speaker, so no speaker to disconnect if feeding from the control head.

None of that applies if feeding the speaker only off the rear of the RF Deck. KCH-14 internal speaker can be left connected.
