To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

We have a motorola maxtrac with a Motorola L3276A--124CEN0732- tone adaptor. Soon to faze out the maxtrac with a kenwood tk 7180.

Question is we use a phone line in back of the radio with Motorola L3276A--124CEN0732. Trying to set the new radio with the Motorola tone adaptor box so the pagers will tone with the new radio. Any ideas on how to go about doing this. Besides calling a local kenwood tech since we no longer have one locally.

Also I heard you can set up a data channel on the tk 7180 so no matter what channel your on; on the radio the radio will still recognize the alert tones and set the pagers off.

Right now with the set up we have to leave the radio on channel 1 and can't change it so we can get the tones.

Any information would be helpful
Thanks.

I'm not sure you are describing what you want to do correctly, more detailed info is required, so I will try and help with what I think you are trying to do. By paging do you mean that the radio sends out (TX) the paging tones from a tone control remote console? If so if it is a carrier sq transmit frequency, hook it up as any other radio like the Maxtrac using the accy connector, if you are looking to strip PL when TX paging you can use the same frequency programmed as a second channel without PL TX. The tone console transmitting the paging tones will need to be able to transmit on F-2 control tones. This will work assuming that the Kenwood has the capability of switching channels from the accessories connector. Further in your post you mention Rx of paging , I am not sure if these two issues are related, please provide more info or PM me.
