Well, for one, I am assuming you are going to use it in the ham bands, since it doesn't do narrowband, except in a few rare instances.
You will need a DOS laptop, serial programming cable and the software to program it.
If you are using it on the ham band, you will need to get it programmed and no doubt, get someone to help you align it so that the VCO locks in your range. There is a 50/50 chance that it will without tweaking.
If you are contemplating using it in the commercial or public safety section, use it as a wheel chock.
