tk 840, 860, 880 differences

I use a tk840 for my fire dept as well as a landscaping company i do plow repair and vehicle upfitting for. (during storms the radios come in handy). I am looking for a couple more on ebay to keep in my office and in my spare vehicle. I have the software for the tk-840, can I use it to program 860's and 880's? what are the differences between them? I do not use the trunking features, just the tpl/dpl, conventional channels, and the alpha tags. Also, I'm looking at an 8180 for cheap money, are the USB/windows programmable?

Josh,

I think they all use different software. Pm me if you need to know for sure. I have a list at work.

The 8180 uses windows software and all the others are dos based.

I had a dept issued 840. Good radio but I purchased my own 8180. Liked it so much I bought a 7180 too!
