If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm trying to program a TK380 to scan the channels in the system. I have the scan button programmed, in scan info I have "Fix System Scan" selected, but it still doesn't seem to be scanning the whole system. When I select "List Type System Scan" I am able to check the boxes in the system data labeled "Scan List" but same results.
The channels work I just can't figure out why it's not scanning them. Is there some trick I am missing?
I'm also trying to figure out how the scan add/delete button works, but one step at a time.

You need to have the channels you wish to scan enabled for scanning. The TK380 should show a triangle on each channel that is enabled.

I don't use a scan list, but just add and delete channels want to scan at the time.

Also you need to have a button assigned to scan and another for add/delete.

Is there a way to enable the channels in the software? Or is that done via front button?

I have it pretty much figured out now. My problem was that I had "Group lock out" enabled which should be disabled. Seems like it's scanning fine now.

When I press the A/D button it shows a triangle by every channel, which is what I want, but what if I want to disable a specific channel? When I press the A/D button it seems like it just shows me which ones are in the scan list.

Edit:
It also seems like it's scanning both zones. I want it to scan them separately. How do I go about that?

I think you can check one zone or muti zones to scan in the scan menu.

I never used a scan list. Just pick a few channels that wish to scan.

Each channel in the software has a field to add each channel to scan.

Since it says group rather than channel you must be in the LTR Trunking System, rather than conventional channels.

Ohhhh I see. I had no idea I had to change it in model information. Sure enough it was set to trunking. Will update when I play around some more and reprogram my radio

Yea that seems like that solved my problems. I had no idea there was a trunking and conventional setting. Thanks for that
