    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Here's a question for the Kenwood Pro's out there...

I recently re-programmed a number of TK760HG -1's with several channels in the 139 - 150 range (all legal and appropriate). Even though the published band spread for this model is 148-174, all of these freqs are working fine - except for the single 139 MHz one. This particular frequency is failing to lock on some radios but is working OK on others.

My question is whether or not the band spread of this particular model can be easily "tweaked" (by a dealer) so as to allow this errant frequency to operate on ALL of the radios?

Thanks in advance for any light that you can shed on this issue.

The published band range is what the manufacturer guarantees the radio will operate with rated specs. Any operation outside of this is just icing on the cake and Kenwoods seem to do well although it will vary from radio to radio as you have seen.

If the radio is unlocking at 139, the VCO can be adjusted slightly to lower the range at the expense of losing higher frequencies, say up in the 170's.
