• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Need a little help to program the function of the PRYME Bluetooth adapter on the D-sub 25-pin connector. I have the KPG-89D program and the correct KPG-46 Cable to program.

Wha?

The 8180 doesn't have integrated bluetooth support, or the ports required to support the PRYME bluetooth models that plug into portables, as the 8180 is a mobile.

What unit do you have?

Ah, I stand corrected. I was unaware that iteration of the product existed. live and learn!

Did any documentation come with the device that delineates what I/O it's looking for on what pins? You will find what you are looking for under "EDIT" --> "EXTENDED FUNCTION" tab in the -89D software. Without knowing what it needs, can't tell you what to put where.

TK 8180, has a serial port on the back. Radio settings have to be changed to utilize the blue tooth which plugs into the 25 pin serial on the back of the radio,

Most of the pins on the DB-25 are already assigned for audio out, mic in, and power. You'll need to assign one of the IO ports for PTT. You will need to know which pin on the DB25 the bluetooth adapter is looking for it.

MI2 = Pin 6 (this is the Microphone level input TO the radio FROM the bluetooth connector
ME = Pin 25 (Microphone Ground)
AFO = Pin 17 (Filtered Audio Output FROM the radio TO the bluetooth device)
Ground = Pin 7

The PTT needs to be assigned to the correct pin to match the bluetooth adapter. That'll depend on how its wired and the manufacturer should tell you this. You'll set this under the "Extended Function" tab, specifically under "AUX".

You will then need to go into the "Modulation Line" tab and set up the MI2 (rear mic) setup.
Sent MI2 line to "Connect"

That should get you started. There may be some other settings to adjust, like the external mic gain, but get it all functioning first before adjusting that.
