TK940 scanning problems

Hi all,
I'm having trouble figuring out 'scanning' on a TK940 with KPG25D.

I've programmed four conventional 'banks' and all I want to do is to scan one bank to find any activity on any channel within that bank.

I've played with the settings under System Scan List (yes or no) and Feature Option / Scan Switch (scan list or Fix Sys Scn) and can't seem to get the scanning to work as I need. The most I can get it to do is to show 'SCAN' on the display, but it will only receive activity/stop on the last channel selected before scanning was started.

What do I need to have set to permit the scanning to work as I require?

Do you have the mic hung up?

no mic connected, and the 'off hook scanning' option set... so it shouldn't be an issue, but I will connect the mic, ground it, and try again to see if it makes any difference. I doubt it, as I don't get any error tone when I start scanning without the mic anyway.

I think the 940 scans the same way as the 840 does and the 840 scans is oddball.
The unit doesn't scan channels but scans banks. Think of it as scanning up and down banks instead of into a bank. Any scanner can be in the scan list. Try putting 1 channel in each bank and hit scan. If you only have 1 bank used then your only scanning 1 channel.

ahh thanks for the hint - after much head scratching, I figured it out. What a crazy, illogical way of doing things - though I guess it is meant for 'scanning' trunked systems & groups primarilly, so I can live with that.
