Hi Guys,

I am very new to the echolink concept. I need help in setting up echolink on my mobile radio.

Radio: Kenwood TM-V71A

Connections:
--------------
I have a wire which connects my laptop (USB) to my radio (Data Port). I use the same wire to work with Kenwood MCP-2A software to program the radio.

Test done till now:
---------------------
Able to connect to echolink test server from laptop.
Able to transmit and hear back using laptop microphone and speaker.

Questions:
-----------
1. How do I transmit and hear from echolink test server using my radio?
2. What frequency should I set on the radio to transmit to the echolink test server?
3. I saw some videos on YouTube to setup SysOp. In every video I see people using 2 radios. One to connect to echolink via computer and the other radio (mostly handheld) to transmit. Do I really need two radios to make this work? Can't I use single radio to work with echolink? If yes, how do I do it?

Regards,
Bhadresh (Brad)

Do you really need two radios? Yes.

The radio that is connected to the computer is the Echolink node. You, or other users, access that radio over the air and connect to Echolink reflectors.

If you are going to echolink node, the radio has to be dedicated to that role. Looks like you have the best reason in the world to buy another radio "you need it".
