Well, I heard testing on that freq all week. They did use it at the UT game Saturday, along with UHF and 800 MA channels patched together for EMS comms. As I understood it, it was so all the EMS personnel could communicate with each other and a central command post. I think it is on a trial basis to see if all the frequencies could be tied together without any complications. And to bring Knoxville Fire (800 mhz), Rural Metro (UHF and VHF) together on the same channel.
Unfortunately, I was at the game and could not take my scanner in to listen to see if it worked. But all the testing last week seemed to show it would work pretty good.
